Issues with bill after moving from SSE to OVO

Hi everyone,
we received notification from SSE who we get gas and electricity from that we would be moved to OVO Energy. Has anyone have any experience or advice about this. We seem to have had money come out from SSE for £44 on the 21st Jan but OVO have said they will take £95 on the 1st of every month which we assume the £95 is for both gas and electricity so we would expect all payments to be taken by OVO but this doesn’t seem to be the case? Any thoughts anyone we have tried to contact them but can’t get through.

    Probably the supplier has reviewed your monthly payment and decided it is insufficient to cover your costs, either because you are using more energy than originallly estimated and/or the cost of the energy you are being provided has increased since the monthly payment was originally estimated.

    Can you post a full copy of the notification you have received (remove personally identifiable information first)
    It would really surprise me that any supplier would change the monthly payment without giving you some explanation as to why.

    Thank you so we have always paid £44 a month with SSE Which they have already taken so if we have been moved why have they taken the payment. The new supplier will take payment On the 1st of each month which is for £95 which we understand but just strange that SSE are still taking the old payment when a new payment has been set up with the new supplier

    Have you set up a DD mandate direct with Ovo, despite already having one in place with SSE?


  • The OVO takeover of SSE means I now see the same DD amount leaving my account on the same day in the month.  They haven't changed amount or timing.
  • OVO have refused to allow quarterly billing to SSE customers! I was told that "we do not do quarterly billing"

    OVO's own website states : "We send your bill monthly or quarterly, depending on your account settings – this includes a breakdown of all your charges and payments."

    The same page, in the "What is a billing period" section also states : " (billing periods can also run by calendar month,or quarterly, too)"
