Hi,
I recently purchased a second hand car (CORSA 2008 Plate). Now there is a fault, potentially costing £600-700.
The car has a signed 30 day guarantee with the company name on it for all major mechanical problems & receipt of payment.

However, the issue is a electrical fault I think.
I also paid via bank transfer to the business account. I was weary of doing this but with a baby I needed a car and the car market at the moment is stupid.

I’ve messaged the dealer and I’m hoping the issue will be resolved by him, however with past experience of car dealers I’m very critical!
Am I covered for him to cover the costs or to return the car if not?
thanks!!

Depends on a number of things. A 14 year old Corsa would be expected to have problems, and that should be reflected in the price. How much did you pay? What's the fault and who's diagnosed it?0

Thanks for getting back to me

I expected there to be fault with an old car, not starting isn’t one of them though!! Especially when the car was purchased 2 weeks ago…
£1750
local car mechanic plugged his diagnostic in.
I have contacted the dealer (he seems pretty reasonable) however I’d just like to know where I stand going into the situation..
he’s asked if I can put it into a local garage, which I’m happy to do but I’m not too sure if he has any obligation to pay or if I can ask for refund etc0 -
So what is wrong ??You have a diagnostic report .0

That's an odd thing - I assume the key must have worked correctly with the car at first when you collected it.
incorrect key transponder
Is this now the spare key? It is possible they gave you the correct key (1) but swapped by mistake and gave the incorrect key (2).0 -
I have driven the car with this key.
it isn’t the incorrect key, the spare doesn’t work either.
It is a common electrical fault with these cars.
Whatever the fault may be, seeing as I purchased the car 2 weeks ago (via bank transfer) and have receipts & a 30 day guarantee. Am I legally covered by any rights etc?0 -
These aftermarket warranties are intended never to pay out on any likely fault. What they do achieve is to distract you from your consumer rights. If you have had the car for less than 30 days, and it is faulty to the point of being useless, then you have a legal right to return it for a full refund. So ignore the warranty. Use your legal rights. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
You can reject for a refund in the first 30 days.0
