Will adjustment

Can I make adjustments to the percentages given to beneficiaries in an existing will without having a new one made out ? TIA

Comments

  • Yes, you can.

You can just get what is called a Codicil to your existing Will and have it witnessed in the same way (but not necessarily by the same witnesses).

You can either do this through a solicitor or type one up yourself.

You can - as wilfred says - but, if your will goes to probate, your beneficiaries will see what they would have got and what adjustments have been made in the codicil.
If that would cause problems and family disputes, make a new will.
