Hi, Im hoping for a piece of advice please.

My son had empire earth for PC, he loves it, and it worked great on windows XP, however we have upgraded to a new computer that runs on vista basic, and we can not install it on the new one.

I was planning on getting empire earth 2 for christmas, thinking it is newer so must be compatable with vista, but all the ones Ive seen just mention xp/2000 etc.

Is there any additional software i can get hold of to help, has anyone found that it does run on vista?

Products have not been thoroughly tested and certified with the new Vista Operating System. Please see below for few workarounds to some of the minor issues, which you may encounter.

If your game issue is not listed below and/or you’re unable to play your game, try running it in Compatibility Mode with the steps provided below.

Installation
•If you get a message about compatibility with the game during the install, you can bypass this error by clicking on the Run Program button.
•If your game does not launch the autorun screen or give does not give you the splash screen for the installer, try installing the game by accessing the installer.exe and/or setup.exe from the game disc.
To locate the setup.exe or installer.exe;
-Place the game discs into your cd/dvd drive and if you have the option choose to explore the discs files choose to do so. If you do not have the option, do the following:

-Exit any menus, and Open the Computer icon through your Start menu.
-Right click on the drive the disc is in and select explore or open.
-Once you are into the contents of the cd look for the setup.exe/installer.exe (you may not see the .exe extension in the file name).
-Double click on it to start the installer.

Uninstall
•If you encounter errors when uninstalling the game from Start/Program menu, try uninstalling the game from the Programs & Features window instead of the Start/Programs menu.
Multiplayer

•Due to Vista's security features playing on Punkbuster servers with Punkbuster enabled game, you may get an error. Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch the game and select "Run as Administrator". If that does not work then Right-click on the shortcut you use to launch the game and select "Properties", then select "Compatibility" and place check in "Run as Administrator".

Compatibility Mode
•Set your game to compatibility mode if none of the above steps correct the issue.

To set compatibility mode for the game:

-Right click on the shortcut you use to launch the game
-Select properties
-Select the Compatibility tab
-Place a check in the checkbox next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP SP 2 from the dropdown.
-Run the game again.


Even empire earth 3 (the latest one) has vista problems
