Laptop - game runs slow

    Sometimes you just get lucky, sometimes you don't.

    I was able to run Cities: Skylines on my previous laptop (which dated from 2010).  It didn't like it, the cooling fan never stopped and the whole experience had an average FPS of about 8 (Skylines due to the way it works runs slower and slower the bigger your city gets, so that dropped in due course).  But it worked.  Just.

    The laptop was later replaced with a new one and I cobbled together a desktop gaming machine for Skylines (and whatever else I wanted to play) and everybody's now happy.
