Hi,
I’m after some advise please.
I’m after some advise please.
I previously owned a flat that I rented out, there was a tenancy agreement and that agreement specified that the tenant was responsible for all utilities.
Fast forward 3 months and I’ve now sold the flat, however I’m
now being chased by a debt collector on behalf of a large energy firm for nearly £1.4k for the time the tenant was in the flat.

I’ve sent them a copy of the tenancy agreement to prove I’m
not liable for the debt. I’ve even spoken to the ex tenant himself who has said that he’s spoken to the energy company directly. He’s sent me screengrabs of his account with the energy supplier to prove he is down as the account holder with this energy company. So why are they chasing me? I’ve sent the debt collectors these screenshots and asked them to contact the debtor himself or the Energy company to confirm that I am not the debtor and I am not liable but they still keep calling!

What can I do? I feel like the middleman! What can I do to get my name off this debt so that they stop calling me and it doesn’t negatively effect my credit rating?
