  • Update. I've finally spoken to the finance team and have arranged a monthly over payment to balance the book at the end of the year. I'm also pushing for Continued healthcare allowance.

Is it worth having the financial assessment reviewed/ get independent advice on it just to check that it is actually correct?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Would it be better to set up a direct debit or standing order.

It would not, becuase if they request the DD before the pension has been paid, then it will bounce, as there's no money left until he's paid again.

If he has enough pension to cover the costs then why would this be the case?

Does he actually have enough, or not?

  • Does he actually have enough, or not?

He does, but it's about cash flow rather than ability to pay. The invoice is generated 4-weekly, but he's paid monthly, so eventually, becuase 4-weeks isn't a month the due-date sips behind the date that his pension goes in to his account.

I have requested this also. The social worker said on the phone that a review is overdue.

It looks like you have now done this, but if bills were the four weekly amount, but being paid monthly, I'd calculate the yearly amount that needed to be paid, divide by 12 and pay that monthly so you'd never be too far behind.  I'd also pay a week in advance to start with to provide a buffer for months when you are a little behind.
