Evening
I have a credit card that went into default. I was aware of the default for over a year and kept ringing up to pay it without knowing. When I was aware I set up a payment plan with the company. The agent was very blazey and said pay what you like there is no interest. So I start to pay of £50 a month. A few months later I called to get a balance and they informed me it had been sold. after another few months I was contacted by Cabot. I have now paid the balance off with Cabot (the stupid thing it was only about £400)
I am confused the original credit card is still showing I owe them a defaulted balance? is this right? It has screwed me right up financially for the last 2 year meaning I could not even get a basic bank account.
Thank you

If the debt is now settled, the default should show as settled. If it's showing as open, raise a dispute.0

Bankrupts/insolvents, those with CCJ`s, multiple defaults, late payments etc, are all able to access basic banking.
The most likely reason for refusal of an account would be a cifas marker on your credit file, and not one default on its own.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. So the company the post office credit card sold it to showed it as a default until I paid it full and it is now showed as settled (FYI along with Cabot, I had letters from another company YaYa telling me I had miss payments to then for the same debt, they would then not speak to me when I said it was with Cabot and who were they?)
The post office that sold the original debt is still showing that I owe the full amount and is in default. No one in post office would speak to me.
