Do I have a case for compensation?

Very briefly, I was in Egypt in November, for 11 nights all inclusive.  We never left the resort.  We arrived Monday, and by Friday we were both sick with diarrhoea and painful cramps.  I also had vomiting.   We spent two days in our room.  I lost my appetite for a week, i only felt better my last full day of the holiday. So I suffered for 7 days with diarrhoea, my husband for 4.  We met with management twice and the rep once during this time to complain, amongst other things about lukewarm food.
The  travel agent say there is no evidence that our illness was caused by the food in resort, even though we didn’t eat anywhere else.  They also claim we turned down an offer to see a doctor in resort which isn’t true.  We are aware of one other Brit in resort who was Sick at the same time.
Is this grounds for compensation?  My holiday was ruined.   First time I’ve lost weight when staying all inclusive.
How should I proceed?

Was this a small resort with just a few people staying or a typical resort and fairly full? The fact that only one other person got sick doesnt bode well for you saying food hygiene wasnt up to standard and the cause of the illness as you'd then expect much higher number of people sick.

Well our other gripe was that not all facilities were open, and they blamed this on low occupancy.   Most of the other guests were Russians and Eastern Europeans so didn’t get chatting with them.   Including us, we got talking with 3 other brits, so a 50% illness rate in that small group….

I dont think Brits have a particularly weak constitution nor would eastern europeans be taking markably different things from the buffet etc to explain why so few people got ill if the food was generally a problem.

At the end of the day you presumably bought it as a package so log your complaint with your agent and if you arent happy with their response then look at your escalation routes on How to complain about your package holiday booking - Which? however based on what you are saying your prospects arent great.
