Chain fighting over completion date

This looks like a time where agents should be earning their money. They are in a situation where they should be able to knock heads together to sort out these kinds of problems.

Our estate agent has been so so poor, they haven't communicated to any other agent on the chain for 5 months. I just made another thread about this topic, we don't want to pay them!martindow said:This looks like a time where agents should be earning their money. Yes, definitely sounds like they are not very good. What about any of the EAs further up the chain? They can liaise up and down the chain and it is certainly their job to ensure everyone comes to an agreement about dates.1 -
I agree with Tiglet2. On a sale and purchase with a long and difficult chain I had a useless selling agent, but found that the agent of the house we were buying was very good. I communicated with him and he did a sterling job of keeping the chain together.I paid my agent through gritted teeth as they had done little to earn their money beyond introducing the buyer. The consolation is that the transactions did go through regardless of who did the most work for their fee.0

Yes luckily the agent of the house we are buying is also very good, if it all goes through it will be all down to her. She's managed to get our sellers to put forward some more dates, so hopefully our buyers from hell will agree and we can exchange tomorrow!martindow said:I agree with Tiglet2. Any solicitor worth their salt will have agreed to draw down funds the day before completion to make sure it's available for completion day.
Good luck
