Hi all,

Had a small mishap and put a screw through a central heating pipe (a larger pipe around 1 inch in diameter). I called the plumber we use to service our boiler, and he said he could fit me in on the day, which was obviously good. This was around 0900 in the morning, so he just fit us in between a couple of his jobs.

He was here for around an hour, fixing it. Just patched it up with a bit of spare pipe. I took the floorboards up before he got here so he didn't have any of that to deal with. Total charge £120.

Have I had my pants pulled down or is this reasonable/is this classed as an emergency callout as far as he is concerned, if it's at 1100 on a weekday i.e. normal working hours?

I think thats reasonable, considering he came out so quickly.

He’s not just there for an hour is he? The time getting to you and to his next job, maybe sorting out other jobs to fit you in. 

The small amount of fittings used. 

His insurances and fuel and taxes amongst other things. 

I’d have been around the same price.

Ok that’s good to know. Thanks for the replies. Yep appreciate travelling time I just had no idea what a normal fee for this sort of thing would be.
