Virgin Money Debit Card linked to a Yorkshire current account.

Hi, as a newbie, please excuse if I haven't posted in the most appropriate forum. I have been with Yorkshire Bank for many many years. It recently (about 2 years ago) "switched" its Debit Card to Virgin Money. During the last 20 years my (joint ) account has always been in the black and its used mainly for paying of monthly credit card (mbna) charges.
My attention was drawn this week to the best Debit card for use abroad and lo and behold, Virgin Money M plus Account ranks very highly and Virgin Money Club M Account even better though it also has an annual fee with all its "extras."
So my question is this. If I understand the blurb correctly, because I already have a Virgin Debit card, I would not be eligible for the "switch incentive equal to £150." This is fine by me, because were I able to switch without hassle, I would gain sufficiently on forthcoming trips abroad, to more that make up the difference. I would also like to avail myself of a better current account/savings account, to receive a better rate of interest, which last year only earned a pittance of £1.70 per month on an average of £10000. Any views or advice would be welcome. TIA

My understanding is that YB customer accounts were converted into VM accounts, so regardless of what the account was when you initially opened it, it is now a VM account. To be eligible for the VM offer, you need to switch into a new VM account to qualify for the incentive, so your existing current account isn't eligible unfortunately.
As for savings, plenty of options depending on what you're after:

It all depends if the switch is only for new customers or just a new account. If you've never received an incentive before and it's for new accounts not customers then you could still qualify. As always the devil is in the details so check T&CsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1

The account type determine the overseas charges; not the brand on the debit card. Older Yorkshire/Clydesdale accounts are mostly free in the UK and Eurozone only.1
