Looking for advice on Virgin Media deal/timing please

I have the following package which is due for renewal around 15th March

  • TV - Fun TV (L) with Sky Cinema added
  • Broadband - M100
  • Phone - Line rental + Talk Weekends but I only use this for incoming calls. I'm with Virgin Mobile and use the moby for all my outgoing calls.

I currently pay £66.50pm after discounts which end in June and September this year.

I've just had the letter telling me that my monthly cost is going to rise from 1st March by £4.25.

Questions...
  1. Given the contract expiry is coming up in a couple of months, should I leave haggling/cancellation for a bit and call them nearer the time and after the price increase has been applied?
  2. I don't want this to sound the way it will read but does anyone know of a number to call which will get me through to someone in the UK? Past experience has taught me that overseas agents are less willing to deviate from their scripts and offer the best deals available. Or maybe I've just been unlucky in the past!
  3. Is there anyone out there with the same deal as me? If so, may I ask what you pay and if you've managed to haggle a better price than I'm currently paying?

Many thanks

    1) This day 30 window is your get out of jail free card to avoid exit fees.  Once it expires you pay them to leave.  No guarantee of new deals/discounts.
    2) Call 150 from your Virgin line.
    3) Consider whether you use all the features of what you're paying for.  If you don't watch half the channels its pointless paying for them.

I got my dates mixed up - quite a frequent event these days with constant brain fog - and my contract doesn't expire until June. It doesn't seem to matter what number I use, I always get to an overseas centre with a bad line!

I think I'll start a little diary for a couple of weeks and see what channels I actually watch. The guy I spoke to yesterday tried really hard to push me to M200 broadband and an expanded set of channels including BT Sport BUT minus my Sky movie channels for £60pm. I have a feeling they are offering the exact same deal to new customers for £45pm at the moment! I declined and just took the £4.50 discount for 6 months, which will take me up to contract renewal/haggle time.
  • I was paying £65.50 for M200 broadband, Maxit TV with Sky Cinema and Talk International ( All inclusive UK & international calls anytime, any day). I got a letter saying my bill was going up to £74 next month then up to £100 in May due to my previous deal expiring. I called and said I wanted to cancel. They offered me M350 broadband, Maxit TV ( No Movies ) and Talk International for £66. I would tel them you want to cancel and see what they offer you.
