Gardening Work Uncompleted!

Options
We have been getting some gardening work done at our house, it has been stop and start for around a year and a half now. We’ve had a tree cut down, some hedge planting done but still need the stone wall at the side of our drive to be reduced in length.
Just before Christmas the gardener emailed us with an invoice for the work. He said he had taken £50 off for the wall which still hasn’t been done.
We replied by saying that the job hadn’t been completed and that we would be with holding payment until the work is completed. Not only is the wall not done, but several plants need to be replaced and the front wall tidied up.
He has threatened to involve his solicitor if we don’t pay him!
Can anyone help….we can’t believe it, especially since we have been to patient waiting all this time!!
Help!!

I think you should consider paying him for the bits he's done  and saying goodbye...

£50 for the wall doesn't seem right though, unless it is a very (very) small job

Get quotes to finish the work, and pay him his quote minus what you need to give the other guy - and let him know you're doing this, which might kick him into action.
