Mirrored panels - naff or good idea?

Hello all,

Our spare bedroom faces North and looks a bit gloomy. I work in there and honestly you have to have the light on all day.

 I was thinking about getting acrylic mirrored panels to stick on the fitted wardrobe doors to reflect more light into the room as a cheaper alternative to changing the doors 

Would this look completely naff do you think?

It looks Ok for a while, but I find it doesn't last. Could be worth checking your local Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree for mirrored wardrobe doors. People are often giving them away or selling very cheap. Or even a whole new wardrobe with fully mirrored doors. Overall, the mirror idea is a good one as it does make rooms feel more spacious. You can also get paints with light reflecting speckles in that also help illumination  a little bit.

What sort of doors?
If they open outwards could you put the mirrored panels inside and open the doors while working? 
Then if it doesn't look great you can close them after you finish.

IME you're never going to win by putting style over function. Better have a mirrored light room that you can use than a dingy stylish one you don't.
