Storing Computer Monitors outside

Options
I have recently been given the green light to work some days from home and have subsequently invested in a couple of Dell monitors. Unfortunately we live in a small house, with no dedicated office / work space, so I'm having to set up daily on the kitchen table.

Currently I pop the screens in a plastic storage box and most of the time, they sit in the way...

Is there a suitable way I can store the screens outdoors in the garage? I'm mindful of the cold/damp air getting to the screens, but at the same time, it would also be a handy space to store them when not in use.

Any recommendations welcome.

Thank you in advance.

There should be no issue with putting the screens in their storage box in the garage.  They would most likely be just fine not in a box in the garage too as long as you had some sort of cloth cover to keep muck off them.

Wrap the screen in a plastic bag, clingfilm or something similar. Throw in some silica gel sachets, or one of those specific moisture-absorber trays that you can get from the motoring stores and other suppliers. Put them in the box, and put the box in a bin bag or two, or again, wrap in clingfilm.

All sorts of ways to protect them.

Set up a workspace in the garage, temp boarding/insulation to make it just big enough to work and heat.

Condensation that happens when you bring them back in the house, cold monitor into a warm humid space

Monitors are not that deep without a table stand they would slip under a bed or hang against a wall somewher.
    are they easy release stands

I tried looking for a clip on monitor arm mount but not seen one they all seem to be fixed bolted.

    Hi,
gee whizz, must be small if you can't find a corner in lounge or bedroom to set up, or is it because of connections?

Anywhere you could put something like this.

Wall mounted monitor and folding table would need similar space.

If you don't want to wall mount there are dual monitor floor stand options that don't take up a lot of space

That'd be a lot of plastic clingfilm going in the bin every day as they are brought out for the days work and then put away in the garage in the evening again!

Not sure silica gel sachets are quick enough acting to make a material difference in the 15 hours they are in use each day?
  • I'd rather commute to the office than faff about every day getting monitors out of the garage to set up my home working.

My company are quite strict about this, if you haven't got a suitable home working environment then you work in the office (exceptions being government advice about WFH).

My dining room / table became my desk / office at the start of the pandemic and still is. We eat on the sofa, no big deal, adapt to the world, leave the monitors out, eat somewhere else or commute to the office.

I would put a sheet over them not a plastic bag. If you can keep the temperature above 5ºC then that will help prevent
issues. Just make sure they spend a couple of hours indoors before powering then on.

You want them to be close to room temperature before powering up.

I'm surprised this question has been asked before now.  Many people don't have spare space which can be dedicated to office use.  The OP says the screens are stored in the house currently, but it is obviously creating a real problem or the question would be asked.  My wife has been working from home since March last year, with only a few short periods of mixed office and home working.  She uses 2 x 24" monitors which would be a pain in the .... if we didn't have dedicated space.  Many of her colleagues have had to work literally on the dining/kitchen table and put everything away every evening.
