IMO no they are not better(functionally) than traditional PVC door designed in the mid 80's
I'll admit they do look better, but thats it.
the security debate about it being harder to kick in a composite door, neither here nor their in my opinion almost any lock can be picked in minutes, and even the most secure composite door frame can have its fixings cut off and pulled out in minutes so its a moot point.
also I have a particular dislike hatred for doors that you need to slam or doors you need to put your shoulder into to get though them, and composite doors are just that. I have a 2 traditional double rebate doors and when I walk through them I can just gently open and push them shut almost like any traditional internal door and they will latch on and close. try that with a composite door and it'll just bounce off the casing/frame. you'll also need to approach it with significant momentum to get it to open in the first place.
neither of those things are worth the small aesthetic improvement and until they can sort that I'll stick to the good old fashioned double rebate PVC.
I've also seen a fair few composite doors that leak considerably, and the reason given by the manufacturer is because the door is facing all the incoming weather and it not sheltered enough, funnily enough the houses had PVC doors with a  double rebate for 30 years before before that and it was never an issue....

Composite are better and I had mine installed 6 years ago for £600 (others would like to charge you more I could have had a composite for £300). However they are like wood and will be a pain on southern facing with expansion issues. (Mine was on the north to protect from cold and it does).

We had one of these (Kenilworth) fitted last year. Local DG company fitted it for us, along with some other replacement windows & doors. Hall is now much warmer and external appearance greatly improved. Comes with a 10 year insurance backed guarantee. Really pleased with it.
