You would think that you should be able to switch who pays your fit payments the same as you can with your supplier.

With costs going up so much why can't your suppler be the one that pays your fit payment.

Your supplier only charges you for what you take from the grid so why can't they credit you for a percentage of what you put back?

You *can* switch FIT suppliers. However they all pay the same rate so why would you want to?

You might feel that your current FiT supplier is slow to make payments or not long for this world.  Either might be a reason to switch (which of course you can, a @QrizB says).

They can, but that would require you to be on SEG, not FiT, which isn't a good choice for most who can get a deemed FiT export payment...
SEG pays on metered export though, not a percentage of generation...
Are you just concerned about the timing of the FiT payments not aligning with the bills for your imports?

You can but it’s a gamble. You can agree to forego your export payments - but still retain your FIT - and elect for SEG. Octopus offers a variable export tariff known as Octopus Agile Outgoing. You will need a smart meter with an export MPAN. The export payment changes every 30 minutes. Clearly, Octopus pays more when demand is high and the sun isn’t shining.

FIT rates are all the same.
Depending on how much electricity you export vs. consume, you might be better off moving from deemed export to metered export., You'll need a smart meter for this. (If you already have a smart meter you'll be able to answer the question of how much you export.)
Depending on how old your FIT is, *and* how good your supplier's SEG is, *and* how much electricity you export vs. consume, you might be better off opting out of FIT export payments entirely and switching to SEG.
If you're really keen to make the most of it, and you get your electricity from Octopus, you can do all that then choose Octopus's Outgoing Agile tariff which has, for the past year or more, been the most lucrative SEG tariff on offer.
Edit :D I see Dolor posted the same info, but is more concise!

I have had my FIT with Eon since 2011 never had any issues.. I have just been informed that I am now with "Eon Next" I guess just some rebranding.  They have however changed my FIT reporting dates, no big deal but has this happened to anyone else?

This would make sense if the dates had been changed to match my reading to the date that the FIT changes but my latest date for submission is 25 March, my original reporting date would have been 14 April

My supplier is slow, Good Energy, a supplier could offer perks for switching, otherwise its not worth it.

    Same here.

E.on Next is a different technology platform to E.on and they appear to want everyone to send them their quarterly FIT meter readings during the same window between the 1st and 25th.

My understanding is that, regardless of when you send the meter reading, you won't get paid until after the window has closed so I intend to submit mine on the 25th from now on.
