Sorry, I must have missed the bit where the OP said they bought lottery tickets, which the last time I did, were just £2 each.
About 25% of National Lottery purchase costs are donated to good causes.

1) It's not dual fuel, it's only gas, clearly stated above, gas standing charge is approx £90/year so £50 for 6 months is a reasonable approximation.

2) It's one persons opinion, not everyone's. If you want to do additional work to save £50 then you are free to do so.

3) £2/week for 6 months would be £50, there was no mention that the poster actually bought lottery tickets, only a reference to the cost as a comparison.

4) I don't understand the relevance of how much of National lottery purchases being donated to good causes ?

Just to be clear, British Gas Zero Oct 2022 is a gas only, electric only or dual fuel tariff

As I posted earlier, "Cheaper than any default tariff for electricity, and for usage less than about 9000kWh of gas per year."

The OP posted:

Hence I posted them the zero standing charge tariff that many MSEers have recently been discussing on this site, and explained how they all said they obtained it.

I'm sorry, but you'll need to ask @Verdigris how they feel lottery tickets relate to the subject matter of this thread. They introduced them into this thread.

But no one will save any money by not buying something they had no intention of buying anyway. To think so is just nonsense.
