BT Mobile Roaming Charges

Firstly apologies if this post is in the wrong board (Mods please move if necessary) but couldn't find one more appropriate.
As you may know 3(Three), Vodafone and EE have all announced that they are going to reintroduce roaming charges. However BT Mobile (which is the parent company of EE) have not. They are still advertising Roam Like Home and a recent invitation to my wife included a new contract which includes Roam Like Home. It is also still plastered on the BT website.
As I understand new customers and existing customers renewing their contracts from January 2022 are subject to the change. Is my wife better off not renewing her contract (which has now come to an end so does she have a contract?) or renewing with the new contract that includes Roam Like Home in its T&Cs.
Can BT get out of these contracts if they decide to go the way of EE and charge for roaming or do they have to honour those contract for the remainder of their term who sign up to a contract with Roam Like Home in the conditions?
Any advice would be appreciated.
