My car will not go into the 6th gear after clutch change

I’ve just had a new clutch, flywheels fitted on my 4 x 4. However, the 6th gear is no longer working after the clutch change. I raised this with the garage but, they said it’s nothing to do with the clutch change they did. They’re saying it’s the gear itself that has a problem, all the gears were working before the clutch got damage & I had to change it. I’m a woman that don’t know anything about cars. Could this be true?

How did the clutch get damaged or was it wear and tear?

If all was well with the car before the clutch was changed then I would say they have done something wrong possible linkage issue. But did the clutch get changed as it was slipping or did it break. If it broke may have damaged gears but unlikely. If you are in the AA or alike they will inspect it for you.

Will it go into sixth with the engine off?

The clutch broke cuz, it was staying down & I couldn’t use the gears. It makes me think maybe the gear box got damaged as well. All the gears were working when the engine was off at the time when the clutch broke. 6th is no longer working when the engine is off now.

Sounds like a linkage problem then.

The gearbox linkage and gearbox have to be removed to change the clutch, it probably has not been put back right or needs adjustment.
If sixth gear was working before the clutch failed then it was not damaged  by the clutch failure.
It is the responsibility of the people changing the clutch to make sure both clutch and gears are working on completion. You have to give them a chance to fix it, if they don't tell them you will get another garage to repair and recover the cost from them. If they do any work do not pay for any replacement parts unless they show you the faulty part.
You do need some help here - do you have breakdown cover with anybody.
