Does Smart TV affect broadband

We've set up a new smart TV 3 days ago - we can access Amazon Prime, BT iPlayer, etc. However, I renewed my BT contract on the same day and I don't know which one has affected me being able to access Duolingo upstairs.  I've had no issue for the past 660 days so I don't know why all of a sudden it says "not connected to the internet". Even when I try to connect it drops out soon after. I can however connect to a BT Wifi hotspot. It's driving me nuts. I don't want to ring BT and stay on the phone for 30 mins. I thought maybe somebody would know the answer. I'd appreciate it.

If I were you I'd power off all devices that connect to your router, incl the TV, reboot the router then once it connects start up all your devices again.

Thanks for the advice. I disconnected/switched off all my devices and disconnected the router.  I left it a while then reconnected the router and my devices.  Haven't had an issue since.  Fingers crossed.  Muchas gracias (I'm back on Duolingo)!

You will need to logon your TV to your router which will require the password.

Had to re-do mine a few months ago when the router was replaced.

Turning it off and on is an overused cliché with IT equipment but must not be underestimated for the ability to actually solve so many problems.

Asking somebody to turn everything off and on sometimes feels like a cop out, but I recommend everybody does that before reporting any kind of IT problem.
Except when "my pc won't boot" turn off your router, and your tvs, and don't forget the lights but do that before you turn off your router because Alexa can't turn them off ...... Sorry I have had a bad week >:)

Only if your Wi-Fi* network settings have changed - which they likely did when you replaced your router. :)

    * If the TV connects via Ethernet cable then there are unlikely be any network logon details anyway.
