Has anybody else owning a Zoe Electric been experience a drop in terms of battery performance on their car? I have a 2 months old Zoe Hatch R135 GT
Line EV 50kWh and I noticed when fully charged few weeks ago, it was showing 180-190miles kind of range which is more or less what Renault has been claiming. Last 2 charges it is showing 130-140miles. It is considerable less than what was expected or experienced before. Is this something common to others? Thanks,

Winter affects the battery chemistry, so when it starts hitting around 0 degrees, the range will drop around 30% from optimal temps (25 degrees).
That being said, 140miles with 52kWh useable would suggest 2.7mi/kWh, which is certainly very pessimistic. Mine is closer to 3.5 Don't take too much notice of the range and start looking at actual % lost for the types of journeys you do. You will soon get a good idea based on your driving habits.2 -
The range the car tells you is an estimate (guesstimate) based on previous journeys. You've only had it for a couple of months and probably haven't fully adapted your driving style for optimum range. If you keep an eye on what percentage of the battery you use for different journeys you'll get a better handle on the real range.
As DrEskimo says, the real range of EVs does drop quite a bit in cold, rainy, windy weather ie the British winter so take this into account.

We were experiencing very mild temperatures around new year, now it’s around normal for January so what you4 are seeing is normal.0

Sadly many people switching from ICE fail to do some basic research.Life in the slow lane0 -
We had one of the older 20kWh Zoe's until last year. What we noticed with the cold particularly was how much battery power was used to heat the interior of the car. We found we got a lot better range if we left the car plugged in at home and used the key to remote start the heater 10 minutes before we left. That way it used the mains power rather than battery power to bring the car (and the car's battery) up to temperature before we set off.
Might be worth a try .....0
