Hello. Has my OH left it too late to challenge HMRC as to the need to submit a SA for this year, as she was entirely PAYE, had no child benefit or other complexities. She was Self employed in 2016/17 but hasn't been since and notified the HMRC when she stopped but they keep asking for one.
Observant reader's may have seen a short thread about a wrong assumption made (and hence failing to submit) for 2019/20 I don't want to get into that boat again. But would rather not submit as OH doesn't earn over her allowance so what is the actual pointI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thank you! Super quick
We have all the data - will take us 15 minutes but not sure what impact it will have to keep doing it. How can I get them to stopI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Personally I would file the 2020:21 return then on e this has been received by HMRC (it should show on her account a few days later) give them a ring and ask them to stop the issue of future returns.
Or tell you why they are still needed.
If you do this by early February you should be able to sort it before the 2021:22 return is selected for issue. If not you are going round in a circle.

Well yes and no. My OH contacted them saying she was no long self employed and requesting no SA. We got an acknowledgement that she didn't have to do SA unless changes and/or requested. Then they continued to request them every year so how can I get them to say no!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
