Hello.  We booked a holiday to Spain in August 2021 for travel August 2022.  Since booking Spain have updated their entry requirements that all over 12s need to be double vaccinated.  My son isn’t 12 until 9th May, so with the 3 month gap between vaccinations there is no way he can meet this entry requirement before we travel on 4th August.  Does anyone know if there is any exception/leeway for this circumstance as this will affect any families with children turning 12 less that 3/4 months before planning to travel.  Thank you

I would try to find somewhere that does the Johnson + Johnson which is a single dose and that is considered fully vaccinated
    Credit card debt - NIL
Home improvement secured loans 30,130/41,000 and 23,156/28,000 End 2027 and 2029
    Mortgage 64,513/100,000 End Nov 2035
2022 all rolling into new mortgage + extra to finish house. 125,000 End 2036
  • Their rules could change another ten times between now and August, absolutely pointless worrying about it now.

Rules could change many times before August. There may be no requirements by then, Who knows?
No point in getting concerned about it at present.

There is no exception with the current rules .

However as others have said both the Spanish and U.K. rules are likely to change multiple times between now and then.

I take the point that rules will undoubtedly change between now and the summer, but I can't see vaccination requirements going away any time soon.
  • Maybe, but the 12 week interval between doses, or minimum age for vaccination may change.

If too stressful to wait and see, delay your departure date.

Nowhere in the UK is doing J&J.

A first vaccine on his birthday, would allow for a second vaccine on 1 August.

The issue remains that you have to have had your second batch of potion inside you for 14 days. The OP would be better moving the holiday to late August if she doesnt want to play a waiting game.
  • Touch wood the entire pandemic (in europe at least) may be over by then. As others have said, the rules if they still exist are likely to have changed by then.
  • Thank you.  We haven’t got the opportunity to move the holiday to later in the summer as have other plans at the end of August and then school is back 🙁. My insurance company said I could claim if this is still the same 31 days before travel as this wasn’t the rule when we booked.  But would rather just go on holiday, so wondered if there were any exceptions in the small print.  It could well affect a lot of families with spring/summer born 12 year olds this summer.  You would have thought they would have considered this situation  when making the rules!  Thanks again for your comments and advice x
