Travel insurance for people with cancercancer

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer with bone secondaries, and want to go to Spain in April.
I am undergoing chemo and am not showing any outward signs or symptoms.
I'm quite mobile and wonder if it's possible to get insurance.
I am 74, and have other medical conditions and have had no problems with this before.
My question is can I get a policy to cover all the other conditions but not the cancer.
If by any chance I had to return home early I'd be quite happy to book a flight myself.
Would it be a better idea to take advice from a broker?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
When I married 'Mr Right', nobody told me his first name was 'Always'. ::rotfl:

You certainly can get cover but both MacMillan and Cancer research suggest you talk to a broker. You could also check with Staysure who offer policies for many conditions but depending on your medical condition, it may not be cheap. If you haven't already got a valid EHIC card, apply for a new GHIC card which will give you basic emergency treatment in Spain if necessary

After I was diagnosed and successfully treated for Laryngeal Cancer 6 years ago, trying to get travel insurance straight after treatment was difficult. There were companies who would insure me, but at eye watering prices or they would offer cover without the pre-existing condition which seemed a risky strategy to me - particularly where cancer was declared.

I did eventually get cover from World First and factoring in my age (59), the annual worldwide policy came at an acceptable price.

As each year passed, (shop around), the policies became cheaper and now I pay a very small addition for declaring the condition.

I have now noticed that many policies only ask for any condition contracted within two years of applying.

I did notice that applying online for a policy, they nearly all asked the very same questions relating to the declaared condition and the end result that many would not offer cover based on my replies.

Your age and other pre-existing conditions may suggest a broker may be your best option, but please don't scrimp on your cover and I hope you get sorted with a policy that is right for you.

NB, I tried staysure but couldn't get through the questions - as I was mid chemotherapy - they just can't get past the fact that I had limited knowledge.  Theoretically they insure you for everything but the cancer/reported condition but they still ask about it which was incredibly frustrating.  I'm going to try again later once I have more information and it's nearer travel time.  (I have a trip this summer postponed from 2020 and got caught out with yearly insurance refusing to renew or cover the holiday)
