I am planning on selling my house, and I've got some great info about beating the estate agents down on fees, but I don't seem to be able to find anything on H.I.P's on the site. Some agents sell them in with their fees, others sell them seperate, but they are all different prices. Is there a set price? Can I arrange my own H.I.P? Any info or advice will be much apreciated. Thanks.

You can arrange your own HIP, but if you don't feel up to that, get your solicitor to do it.
The searches etc are all standard stuff for conveyancing solicitors and the cost for a freehold house is likely to be about £250-£300 plus VAT.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
While the serches etc are standard stuff and you can complete your own local council serches the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) can only be produced by a qualified DEA (Domestic Energy Assesor)..0

Every Conveyancing Solicitor in the country has had approaches from DEAs wanting work so there's no problem in a solicitor finding a DEA and arranging the pack inlcuding the EPC.RICHARD WEBSTER
