There are plenty of offers for transferring your current account to a new one - but what if you don’t have a previous account? Are there any offers?

The short answer is no.But there is nothing to stop you planning ahead by opening a current account with a bank, put a couple of direct debits from the account and then, in a month or two, you will be better positioned to take advantage of any switching offers available.

You mean you don`t have a current account? The following current accounts are worth opening depending on your circumstances and I`m sure there are others.Virgin CA pay 2% on up to £1000 balance, Nationwide Flex Direct CA new customers 2% on up to £1500, TSB spend and save CA, Santander 123 lite CA cashback on bills, Club Lloyds CA .6% on up to £3999, 1.5% on £4000 to £5000 plus reward eg 6 cinema tickets a year and Halifax Reward CA pays £5 a month if you fulfil certain conditions. These are not as lucrative as the switching offers you mention. To get one of these, open any basic CA and add 2 DD`s to it and then switch making sure you fulfill the T&C`s.0

Somehow my father in law has managed to avoid having one for nearly sixty years but thinks it might be useful now!where_are_we said:You mean you don`t have a current account?0 -
The only current account I'm aware of that gives you a reward for opening one, without the need to switch, is TSB via this Quidco offer: https://www.quidco.com/tsb-spend-save-plus-current-account/
Otherwise opening a second account with your current bank and prepping it as a donor account for switching, as highlighted above, is also not a bad idea.0
