UPVC door not closing

My UPVC door isn't closing properly. I need to slam it harder than normal in order for it to close.
It's done this in the past and it was just the door catch that needed tightening, I just tightened the screw, that and everything else is still tight.
When I turn the handle to open it, it does not feel smooth.
Maybe this is a common problem?

I have had a similar problem with a uPVC door here. It was fixed by adjusting the hinges - A local window installer did it for me when he was doing some work here.If you are not confident in adjusting the hinges, is there a window/door "doctor" in your area ?Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Upvc doors are adjusted by the hinges, just note how many turns you do so you can reset if it goes wrong way. Youtube has some good videos to look at before you start. Just check the gap is equal all the way round0

has the door dropped? check that the engagement points of the locking mechanisms line up with the wear marks to see if has dropped slightly. the panel could need re-packing

PVC door hinges usually have two adjustments. You may need to remove one or more cover plates to find them, and the hinge designs differ. There should be one "in and out" adjustment that pulls the door closer to the hinges, or away from them. Then can be used if the door is sticking on one side of the frame. Also, by winding the top hinge in and the bottom hinge out, you can correct a door that's dropped slightly. The other adjustment is up and down. You adjust that on all the hinges if the door is hitting the top or bottom of the frame. If the lock is jamming on the striker plate, you can usually adjust the striker plate itself a bit. Or adjust the door in/out/up/down until it latches better. In extreme cases, it may be necessary to unscrew the striker plate, move it to where it needs to be, and screw it back on again. Drill small pilot holes to start the screws off in their new holes. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

https://youtu.be/c8kip-gPuXwI have an elderly relative and his door does not close properly, that seems like the door has dropped. But my door seems to be different. When I turn the handle there is a lot of play before it opens. and the action does not seem smooth.I slam the door and the door closes, but the door catch does not catch the hole unless its slammed hard.0 -
Check the plate hasn't moved back from the force, it should never be slammed shut

Does sound like the door's dropped! Usually its quite easy to get a company round to re-toe and heel it and get it back into shape, although its frustrating to have to call them out0

door has dropped & the play in the hadle is wear on the shaft. Very common fault with some handles but easy to replace usually just 2 screws. Any handyman/woman could do this if you are unable.
