Hi pal, I may have my terminology mixed hence your comment about it being unusual? I assume it's E7 based on the fact I have day and night readings. The actual electricity meter that I have is this one:QrizB said:We'll knoow the new April SVT cap in about four weeks; you might want to wait until then before making a decision! It's quite unusual to have gas and E7 but I guess you realise this and there's a good reason?

Is it not normal practice to have this kind of meter when I use a Combi Boiler for heating and hot water? The meter was present in the house when brought it 6 years ago.E7 has a cheaper rate for seven hours at night and a more expensive one during the daytime. While the exact proportion will vary between tariffs, if you use more than about 25% of your electricity on the night rate you'll be better off on E7; otherwise, you're better off on a single-rate tariff. You can have a single-rate tariff with an E7 meter; both rates are then charges at the same unit price. The only potential pitfall here is if you switch suppliers and your new supplier puts you on an E7 tariff as that matches your meter details on the national database. All the tariffs you've quoted in your opening post are single-rate which makes me think that, even if you've got an E7 meter, you're currently signed up for a single rate.N. Assuming the price cap rate rises by 50% as suggested then all of those fixed rates are well above what the new cap would be.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1
