hi. had my electric with british gas evolve (just electric no gas) for about 4 yrs. I been paying 23 a month. not bad for this place. (2 up 2 down. just me n the cat.) so that contract comes to a end 28/01/22. new contract to replace it £47 a month. over double. they are no better deals out there, so I've go with it. unless any of know where to go for a better deal.

The general advice is to not to take a fix but go onto the SVT when the present fix runs out.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Is the new contract a fixed deal or the SVT? The latter might be cheaper until the next price cap review in April and might even be cheaper then.

As others have said, declining the 2-year fixed deal and instead dropping onto the standard variable tariff (SVT) is likely to save you money for a couple of months. However the SVT is likely to rise on April and might be as expensive as the fix you've been offered.
Sadly, that's just how the energy market is at the moment.
