Louisehallie said:I completely get it but just find it so unfair that we can’t go because the rules have changed since booking not because we have decided not to go!It's unfair but nothing about the pandemic has been fair. You made a booking in the full knowledge that entry requirements are constantly changing during a pandemic.Hopefully entry requirements change but if they don't you took the risk and subsequently you have to accept the consequences for that risk not paying off. It's even more unfair to expect TUI to change it's refund policies to suit you.

For the record, I have never said I expect any company to change their policies to suit me!Luckily we can move the holiday to a summer holiday just for the 4 of us, it’s just extended elderly family who are disappointed that we cannot all go together. It’s the upset more than anything. I thought this was a supportive forum?1

I thought this was a supportive forum?Personally I think it is supportive to encourage people (both OP's like yourself and anyone else looking in on the thread) to look at these issues realistically and objectively.A lot of people have written off even thinking about going abroad for the last two years and a lot continue to do so for the very reason it is a foreseeable risk that entry and quarantine requirements are contantly changing and can affect holidays before and during them. Those who decide to take these risks have to be realistic about the consequences of the decision they make to go ahead with bookings.10

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -

why can the elderly not change their dates? Surely they don’t have to fit around work leave?
its unfortunate (I have a similar situation myself) but I think people are being helpful and supportive by giving you the truth about liability even if it’s not “fair”.3 -
As disappointing as it is to have to change your plans . It was a known risk when booking a holiday during a pandemic that entry requirements could change frequently.Looking on the bright side , you wisely booked a package holiday with a company that allows changes so you will still get a holiday.
Other families who booked non flexible flights and or non refundable hotels separately have no option to re-book so won’t get their holiday or their money back .5
