Parking bay says "9 am till 6pm max 30 mins stay"

Can a blue badge holder park here for 3 hours?

You can try but no guarantee you won't get a ticket. There is a reason for the 30 minute time limit.
  • Just park on the yellow line, job done.

:) I wanted to avoid that as it inconveniences road users (easier if all parked cars are on the same side...) but looks like I'll have to!

Why don't you ask your local council. Rules can differ between local authorities and they'll be best to clarify the situation on that particular road. Yes, you can park on the yellow lines but be aware they are there for a reason and your BB entitlement only allows you to park on them unless you cause an obstruction to traffic or there are loading restrictions in place.

Generally speaking, unless there's a sign saying the time limit also applies to badge holders then you should be able to park there without a time limit.

Which is why Neil suggested asking your local authority about it to check.
  • I had to spend 6 weeks in Blackpool, family emergency.
Where they lived it was controlled parking, permit parking.
Called the council and found out 2 things, a years visitor pass was less than £20.
Plus disabled drivers could park in pay and display bays for free all day.
Visited Bournemouth and found out that if you park in a council car park, blue bay with a badge.
You get a fine, as you had to register first with your log book stating disabled class and free tax.
Now I think only residents can get the exemption.
  • In Nottingham I have to park on the single yellow line even during the day when the residents parking bays are empty. Most of the houses are student HMOs so the parking bays are frequently empty. The council said 'If the residents bays are empty you wont be causing an obstruction by parking on the yellow line'
