Hi I have been quoted £900 for new guttering back and front on a terrace house. 14 meters no facias just guttering. This seems expensive. Any ideas

Where are you located? I agree it seems slightly excessive but depending on the specifics might not be a million miles away. I had it done last summer to the rear of a terrace only (from memory about 5m + 1 downpipe) and that was £320.00. That was in the West Midlands. If i'd done the front as well it would've been around £600 I guess. Can add extra to that depending on location. Plus inflation will have pushed prices up, even in the six months or so since I had it done.
If I was you and i'd had that quote i'd probably go out and get a 2nd, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it came back in a similar ball park.1 -

I'd be inclined to get a 2nd quote. Norfolk would generally be more expensive than the West Midlands, but not significantly so.
Having recently bought a house I'm finding that most quotes i'm getting are coming back from tradesmen are higher than anticipated but when I get follow up quotes they turn out to be similar, so I think it's just the market we're currently in.
Get another quote, it may highlight that the 900 quid is on the high side, but as I said in my original reply, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is actually competitive.1 -
For what it's worth, I'm in a similar position - terraced house, want the front and back gutters doing, no fascias... Two quotes so far are £900 and £1100. We do have to get scaffolding up, so if you don't need that then I guess ours are a bit lower in price. First quote is for seamless aluminium, second quote is for plastic (I had thought they'd be the other way round). Based in Sheffield.1
