The unit prices are good by current standards. Unlerss you're a very low user you'll probably be better off on that fix compared to the April cap.

You need to do the sums for your usesge and see how it works out.
The standing charges are very high. But then the unit charges are on the low side compared to other current fixes around. In particular the Gas unit charge looks decent when other providers are charging 8p+
If you're a high user then it might work in your favour. But not for a low user.1 -
This one certainly works for those who use at least the typical amount of gas over the course of the year (12,000kWh), it isn't quite so good on the electricity, but again if you are using 2900kWh or more then it is a decent enough tariff and stands a chance of beating the April cap.lake888 said:I have just been offered a fixed deal from Eon next. Standing charge for gas is 42.31p and electricity is 39.96p. Unit price is 5.46p for gas and 26.43p for electricity. Are the standing charge too expensive??

Just seen this on my eon account.
Should I fix now? Or wait till March and make the most of the cap as it is now?
It's a gamble as if this offer is still there in March, I'd be wasting money.
But then if it changes to something crazy, who knows.

That's the conundrum. Wholesale rates are falling and all other things being equal - in particular the winter coming to an end which should mean the threat of short term shortages will recede - they could well fall further, but what's your view on the international situation? Is Russia going to invade Ukraine? If you think the answer to that is yes, this fix looks quite attractive. If not, there's the chance at least that prices might fall further, and as you say, there are still ten weeks of the present price cap to go.plandregan said:Just seen this on my eon account.

The Standing Charges are over £300 before you use any electric or gas. Even if you are quite a low user of electric and gas, say 1500 kWh per year electric and 4000 kWh gas you'd be looking at over £750 per year. Using average figures, 3100 and 12000, it's nearly £1100 per year.lake888 said:I have just been offered a fixed deal from Eon next. Standing charge for gas is 42.31p and electricity is 39.96p.
