NATIONWIDE FLEXDIRECT

Hello,

I want to switch current accounts from Santander Lite to Nationwide FlexDirect.

In the newsletter Martin suggests applying 1st, not switching until the account is fully open (in order to get £125 bonus).

The trouble is, if I open a page for a Nationwide FlexDirect account, it asks to give details of your existing bank (see below*), and it looks like it would be a switch. I'm confused!

I won't do anything until I hear from you.

More about switching to a Nationwide current account

You’ll need:

• 
  

• the name of your existing building society or bank

• your account number and sort code

• the long number from your Visa debit card.

In the online application, choose Yes to the question Do you have a current account with another bank or building society?

You need to open the FlexD account first.

Just that - ignore anything about switching.

Go to Nwide's pages, apply for a FlexD account.  https://www.nationwide.co.uk/current-accounts/flexdirect/apply/

If the page asks if you want to switch another account in, say No.

A week or so later, when the account is open and you have all the details and login, go back and apply to do a switch.

(Edited to add: Nwide might still ask - during the account opening process - about an existing account elsewhere - but that's not to be confused with switching)

You can easily switch within Nationwide's Internet Banking once your choice of Flex current account is fully setup.
