Solid oak stair nosing

Hello,

we just had our staircase dressed with engineered wood + solid oak nosing. The match between them is perfect and it looks lovely, however the oak nosing is unfinished -- would it be ok to leave it unfinished or does it still to be finished for protection?

It really needs to be finished, mainly to stop it oxidising, which will change the colour. Over time, the nosings might not match the rest of the staircase as well.

To finishi it, I would suggest using a Hard Wax Oil, such as Liberon from Screwfix. The smallest quanity they sell it in is 1 litre, which is a lot more than you need for the nosings, but it will keep, and you can do the entire stairs with it in a couple of years time.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Thank you! Will that product affect much the current colour of the nosing? It's ok if it does, but wondering because at the moment the match is almost perfect.

I would use a harder wearing satin lacquer for the nosing. What finish is on the flooring?
