Car for a new driver - options

I think you're being too ambitious for a first car.... I'd look at spending £1k or less for a car of suitable size for your needs that's yes a bit older, but you'll be able to find a cheap-to-run model. Bear in mind as a new driver, your insurance is probably going to be £1k+ per year for the first couple of years until you've got some No Claims discount. How would you feel if you blow £5-6k on the car to then have to find another £1-1.5k per year to insure it before you've even driven a mile??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple2 -
There is absolutely no point in going to all the hassle and expense of owning a car for only 700 miles a year. Most drivers do more than that in a month. You would be much better taking a taxi for short trips and hiring a car for longer ones, imho.3
