Anglian Safestyle Everest Windows Quotes

Before Christmas I had a quote from Anglian (along with others from Safestyle, Everest etc) All around the same price £24k. Initial prices were 3 months ago and none of them will budge on initial price, which is unusual. This is to replace 14 windows an external door and French doors. UPVC Sash. I know sash are a lot more expensive so consider that when comparing to standard casement windows..
My question is this.. Because I dont want the finance option, they are asking for £7k deposit. Once they have my deposit, what is to stop the surveyor coming out and upping the price due to 'unforeseen' extras?? I've read that it's almost impossible to get your deposit back from these companies and I made it clear to the salesman that should they attempt to up the price on surveyors visit I would cancel.
I raised this concern with the salesman who suggested I instead go for the finance option (Deposit £199) then pay off the total balance once windows fitted so avoiding interest. I doubt there would be no penalty for this and still.. What happens if/when the surveyor finds 'extras'. I'm then in a legal agreement to pay. I'd prefer to not go via the finance option.
Any advice would be gratefully welcome please.

I wouldn't want to pay that deposit.
I got all my windows replaced and paid nothing until they were installed.

I've got to agree with the advice to "go local". The big names have to pay for all their staff, salesmen, all the fancy advertising, and make a - very - healthy profit on top to appease their shareholders. You local family-run or small business simply wants to make an honest living and lives or dies by their reputation. I'm honestly surprised that anyone even considers the likes of Everest etc. at all these days.0

Anglian and Everest have both been bankrupt and restarted under a slightly different name in the past 5 years and previous customers have had trouble with their guarantee . safestyle are another bad bunch . Try a local firm and they will hold their prices . They may say the quote is only valid for 4 weeks instead of past 3 months or 6 months due to weekly increasing suppliers prices recently . Your description also could be a lot cheaper staying local anyway . verticle sliders are expensive though

The companies mentioned use ALL self employed commission staff. The door knocker, his manager, the salesman & his manager, the factory maker and all their staff, the fitters ALL paid on the value of the job. The £million a year advertising and the rest.
The price is set at sale and if the surveyor says it won;t work you can indeed cancel as you get a coolibg off period PLUcontract would be void as its not doable.
Get the supplier to agree to the concern in writing and if really worried read the small print word for word.
PS the salesman gets his commission from your deposit , and many expect another 30% after survey that pays for the manufacturing, then...... you get it.
Expect to pay 25% more if using the big name companies. Try local
