Morning everyone
Scarlet - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air is cold and frosty.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was HM chicken and mushroom pie, chips and beans - enjoyed by us all, and enough left for another meal - so will use that tonight with mash, peas and gravy.
I'm very happy with how I got on yesterday - emptied my meal food store cupboard, but ashamed to say had to throw several bags of food away due to being out of date or split packets etc, then washed cupboard and put back what I was keeping and now have an idea of what I have. This cupboard being sorted has also incorporated a couple of other areas being sorted due to being able to fit everything into the cupboard and it not cluttering up anywhere else! Today I'm going to empty the fridge, clean it out, bin anything that needs to be and then make a start on my computer desk.
I'm finding it very theraputic sp? also emptied one of my clothes cupboards as had a charity bag and that will go out for collection this morning. I'm getting stuck in and getting jobs done in the morning and generally being constructive until 1-1.30pm then stopping for lunch and having an chilled afternoon, seems to be working - I haven't got anything booked or planned for today but I have tomorrow and Friday so need to make the most of the time today. If I'm able to sort the mess on my computer desk then if I can I'll then make a start in the porch where we have a storage shelfing unit with boxes of everything that need sorting.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, I think it's frosty this morning, but at least it's not blowing a gale or belting down with rain.Marie how nice to see your post the other day, hope you're doing all right. It's good that you've found a home for your mum's coat Gers.Snoozer, I'm pleased that Steve's op went well.Tryingtocutback, our reading group was started by our local library I think. We are the Monday morning group, and there's a Saturday morning group. I've heard that they are quite earnest and take minutes of their meetings. (We aren't and don't)Our group is a bit more relaxed, we do discuss the book we've read but often wander off into the highways and byways of general conversation, because the book has triggered a memory in someone. Then we pull ourselves up and start talking about the book again! It's sociable, not demanding, and the library assistant who organises the reading groups is a lovely girl.Coxy, I was going to say something to you and I've forgotten what it was, sorry, I'll come back when I remember it. I admire your pluck in going for a run anyway, you're braver than me. TBH, I don't think I can run now!Hope you are all right after having teeth out Izzy,Glad you enjoyed your morning out TA.DP1 hope the cat enjoyed being dusted!Nelski, don't feel guilty about having a cleaner, you're giving the lady a job, and I'm sure you don't stand over her with a whip!Apologies to anyone I've missed,Yesterday was an ok day, today I need a bit of shopping, and will do the usual household tasks.I was a bit fed up yesterday, don't know why, but I seem to have brightened up todayDH has a bad cough, he always does after a cold, and it's tiring him out, but he can just sit reading, or diddling on his computer. The joys of retirement!Hope everyone has as good a day as they can today, thinking of our poorly people, and those who have relatives who aren't wellTake care folks12

Morning All
Quite mild this morning, damp underfoot but not raining - yet! No washing today but will put a load on when I get home from work. I was very lazy last night and did absolutely nothing apart from catch up with the pottery programme.
I have a bit of a sniffy nose this morning but my test is negative so will get on with it.
Glad you've found a home for the coat Gers, I expect to see it on a period drama sometime!
Great to hear from you Marie, hope you're well.
Well done on the cupboard clearing nmlc, I did mine before Christmas and quite enjoyed it!
Sounds like you enjoy your book club Scarlett.
DD and the little one came to see me at work yesterday once the children had gone home, we had a lovely time kicking a football around the gym hall and tinkling the piano. I also took out one of the big gym mats and we had a bounce about on that, she was exhausted by the time she left.
Called to pay in a cheque at the bank, I've had it for ages and it wouldn't scan into the app, it's difficult to get to the bank when I'm working as it has reduced hours now.
Right, off to the shower, have a good day, take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Struggled to get out of bed this morning it was so warm and cosy, roll on Friday and my day off ! Work was absolutly manic yesterday my feet felt like they did not touch the ground all day, and one of my clients cut his finger quite badly I have never known him to have an accidemt with a knife, I think he got a bit slap happy with it !
I had my chin appointment straight after work and then came home and fell into a glass of wine and then a hot bath
I was in bed just after 8 last night.
Back to it today and we have to make a lemon drizzle cake for a competition, so today we will do a practice one and see how we get on.
Spag bol for dinner tonight so nice and easy to make, and hopefully today will be a bit calmer, dw to empty this morning and I will put a wash on before I go.
Have good days all xxx12 -
Morning folks and thanks for the start off SCARLET. Another dry mildish day forecast but sadly no sun.
Today can only turn out better than yesterday which was sh***. Having coffee with DF and enjoying a good old natter when a text pinged, followed by another. I looked and both from Natwest with questions about recent transactions and if I had made them reply Y or N. I said I don't feel safe responding to these and will call in the bank when we leave here. So DF then went to order lunch and came back with the bad news that there was no fish on, it hadn't been delivered! We settled for gammon and she toddled back to re-order. She had no sooner sat down again when my phone rang. It was the Natwest fraud squad with 20,000 questions which went on and on. Turns out my card had been compromised and numerous transactions to Skybet.com had been made! So card cancelled, money refunded to account and dinner, which had arrived in the midst of all this ended up cold!! Didn't enjoy it!!
Then followed a worried call from DD saying youngest's PCR had tested positive and school wanted her removing asap! As she is isolating and DGD shouldn't travel by public transport or taxi she didn't know what to do. She had no choice but to break the rules and go for her and prayed she wouldn't be clobbered by a fine for doing so!
Eventually set off back home, stopping at the chemist as planned. Still one in and one out so waiting outside in a queue for ages. Not organised when I did get in and the usual rummaging around went on before he packed my meds with the news one item wasn;t available anywhere and I would have to do without!! That will see me staggering around like a drunk for the foreseeable.
So today can't be any worse and the good news is my hairdresser is now Covid free and well and can address our wayward locks at last! She does 4 of us round here and I am 3rd on the list so late afternoon. Meanwhile I shall potter along with a few jobs and talk on here has prompted me to clean out some kitchen cupboards. I think the freezer messer upper has been at them as well.
Have a good day folks if you can and apologies for the moaning. There are bigger problems in the world. ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones, Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Hi everyone, thanks for the start ScarletR,
I’m with you nmlc – can see how satisfying sorting and cleaning is. Only trumped by a trip to the municipal tip – that’s the icing on the cake 😊
Very jealous of the sewing room Snoozer.
Gers – congrats on the new family member x
Oh TA what a day you had yesterday! Hope youngest DGD’s symptoms are mild xx
Please don’t anyone be impressed by the ‘running’. I used to go regularly but now run/walk very slowly. It helps my mood which is why I do it, and I do it very early so barely anyone sees me. Got tooted though by a van driver. I mean….really?
Today I have an eye test at lunchtime. I also have a cheque to pay in at the bank machine plus a couple of bits to get in town. This will be during my lunch break. Non-existent lunch break yesterday as took minutes 1pm-2pm and again 2pm-3pm – was also asked last minute to do 12noon-1pm but declined. I mean apart from a numb bottom, when do they expect me to have a comfort break/a drink? Roll on retirement (in about 10 years time lol).
Dinner tonight is chicken, potato and kale bake.
Hugs to all those with worries and anyone feeling poorly,
Coxy

Morning
Bit of a painful start for me this morning went over on my ankle again so what could laughingly be called my good side is now swollen and very painful. Wont be hitting my step target today for sure having two out of action feet makes life pretty tough I have found. If I was a horse they would have shot me by now!
Cleaner came and did a great job so last night was scrummy fresh bedding and sparkly windows. I have one more visit then will get a new person fingers crossed they are as good.
I was starving last night so really enjoyed sausage mash and beans. Think tonight is just going to be a rinse and repeat. Least it’s easy
Think today will be an enforced sloth day so I’ll crack on with some knitting in between calls.
Have a good day all

Morning folks.Still dark here though the sky is just about starting to lighten.TA - what a nightmare for you! Seems one of those days when what can go wrong does go wrong. 🌺Yesterday was a good day (sorry TA). I chopped and cooked half of an enormous red cabbage which kept me busy checking on it every 15 minutes. It has to cook long and slow so needs a wee stir every so often. The TV dish man arrived in late afternoon and spent a good long while up the ladder replacing all sorts of bits and pieces. He showed me all the corroded connectors and bracket. I'm happier now it's fixed. In a dull moment I ordered a couple of baking books. I want to get back into making cakes, just need to find people to give them too! I've got a new mixer arriving tomorrow so hope to get stuck in. My regime of cutting back how much I eat is beginning to show results so that has to continue and not be derailed by 🍰 I will be strong. 🤞
Still not going out shopping. I discovered some lovely belly pork in the freezer so it's defrosting ready to cook for lunch, it goes perfectly with red cabbage so that's worked out well.Today I shall be lighting the stove and scanning in the small pile of papers whilst sitting by it. If the weather stays dry I'll do some bulb planting. A couple of friends sent me a box of 262 assorted bulbs 😱 My gardener is isolating as her partner has tested positive so can't come until next week. Maybe I'll wait a while longer. 😅
My thoughts and good vibes to all our poorlies and missing. Happy Wednesday to all.13 -
Good morning All
I was up and about early so went to the supermarket just after 7 when it was nice and quiet. I haven't quite got into a good routine with my meal planning/shopping since we lost my DF - there are now 2 of us and we often don't want to eat the same things! I have decided for now to shop twice a week and just get what we need for the next few days. Hopefully this saves any waste. We will see!
The downside of going so early was that it was very cold and I needed to scrape the ice off the car. Still it was lovely and quiet in the shop so that made up for it!
I have just had a coffee to warm up and will soon have some porridge. Dinner (at lunchtime) will be tuna/pasta and whatever I fancy for tea - sometimes this ends up being a mince pie and a coffee as I got a couple of reduced boxes last week!
I am working from home today but need to pop to the dentist for a 15 minute appointment - hopefully I don't need to wait too long.
NMLC - I really enjoy sorting and clearing things out - it is so satisfying! Next on my list is the dreaded cupboard under the stairs (dumping ground!) and one of the drawers under my bed which has paperwork in but not really "filed"!
ScarletRibbons - It's lovely to hear about your book club! I will ask when I go in the library later this week if they have one as that would be great! I like a book club for meeting people and also to push me to read books that I otherwise wouldn't pick up!
TA - I'm sorry to hear about your awful day yesterday - talk about all happening at once! I hope today is more peaceful!
Take care all.
x

Morning, hugs if you need one. TA what a nightmare day you had, I hope today is better.
I too had a cold supper last night, my ironing ladies mother had a cardiac arrest last week and is in the intensive care unit, I was just starting my supper when she arrived with the ironing, so by the time I got back to the table, DB had finished his and was washing up.
Morrison coming this morning with an order, I have a meeting at the council offices this afternoon. Its to do with a new scheme the council are setting up re people in supported living.
Its a very cold morning, there has been a heavy frost the greenhouse is completely white as is the car, good job I am not going out until after lunch.
Supper tonight is frittata and salad, I am going to make a rice pudding, it will last us 2 days.9
