Waiting to exchange

So i had my offer accepted on the 6th of October on our new home. The couple selling the property are moving into a family member’s bungalow that has passed away. They seem to be dragging their heels though all solicitors work is done etc except exchange. And they are having work done inside the bungalow before they move in but it’s frustrating for me as i want to complete on new property. Is their anyway i can push things along?

The title of the thread should really be "Waiting to exchange."0

You could try to persuade them to move a bit faster.
I guess you could also threaten to walk-away if they don't move faster. But those kinds of 'threats' don't always work out well.

Not before you exchange.
Try to contact them to get an idea of when they intend to finish work and exchange.
Contact the EA after sale if they can help progress forward.0 -

They are dragging their heels because you are happy to wait, or alternatively, they won't move til they think they are ready.
Either way they are happy to put you out, so it depends whether you want to give them an ultimatum or whether you're happy to sing along to their tune.
Personally I would tell them when you want to be in by, rather than them telling you. I think it's very rude of them to keep you waiting while they renovate, but you can't kick them out so your hands are tied a bit. Depends how much you want this property and what 'threat' suits you,0 -
