Sky added 6 months to our contract, can they do this?

Hey,
We've been sky customers for years now (TV, broadband and phone) with our most recent contract ending in November. We called up today to try and reduce our tv package but got told because we didn't ring in November they rolled on our contract for us until May! Does this sound right it's not something we've experienced before when changing.

Many thanks

Double check that .Contract ends November  usually moves to a rolling 30 day contract at possible higher prices .
  • Thanks for your reply. My wife just found the email they sent it says "we noticed you have offers ending soon, so your price would normally go up. But the good news is we've extended your offers for another 12 months and you don't need to do a thing. No new contract, no need to do anything"

Yet today we're in a new contract we didn't agree to.

You're not in a new contract, they've extended the offer you were on but it's on a rolling monthly basis. That is literally what it says.

As already stated, you can quit with the minimum 30 days notice if you want to , but they are not going to offer you a better deal as they have already  rolled over the  discounted deal you had, in effect you are already getting a deal so they are not going to negotiate a different deal until whatever time limit they placed on it expires , but unlike a normal discount deal you negotiate yourself , there isn’t a penalty if you decide to simply quit.
  • Think you misunderstood JSmithy45AD. We called them this afternoon to remove sports etc, the advisor said we couldn't remove anything because the contract was extended for us. We didn't agree to that though, we weren't even offered a new contract. She suggested that we could get a few pound knocked off our broadband but that'd take us to Jan 23. Whole thing sounded wrong to me that's why I posted here

You advise them that no contract extension was agreed with yourselves thus they cancel the parts you want to.
