I currently have virgin, broadband, tv, phone paying £71 per month, going up to £76 soon. I really want to either get the cost down or an alternative cheaper option. My tv package at the moment is quite basic so im not paying for any extras, also dont even use my landline. Ive had sky before, not really keen so thats not an option

Freeview or Now (TV).The former is free (beyond the initial hardware, and most TVs made in the last 15 years or so have it built in), and the latter is no contract, but relatively cheap compared to Sky (which also owns Now).Re: Broadband, jump on the comparison sites and find a new deal. There is no obligation to lump everything with one provider.0

1. Probably go with Freeview TV (or Freesat)
2. Check if you can you get an Openreach broadband provider's service (or else a CityFibre/alternative network service)
3. Check if you can get Full Fibre (packages tend to be better value for money and a far more reliable internet connection)
4. If you need to record TV, you can buy a Digital recorder (e.g. Humax) as a one off cost
5. You can always subscribe on rolling 30 day contracts for various streaming services to access TV content as and when you wish (e.g. Netflix, Amazon Prime, BT Sport, NowTV etc)
6. Sometimes a landline can be included at a reasonable price with certain broadband contracts (Vodafone/BT for instance). Alternatively, if you don't use the landline, it might simply be better to pay for a Mobile Unlimited Minutes SIM card from someone like Tesco Mobile, Vodafone, etc.
7. There are broadband providers who do shorter 30 day, or 12 month contracts as well such as Cuckoo, or Giganet.
You could probably just pay for Broadband which would certainly get you far lower than £70 a month. As a rough example, even at full price, the FTTP 900 ("Gigabit") broadband packages can be in the £49-55 a month range via Openreach. If you're in a CityFibre area of the country, it could be cheaper.0 -
I ditched Sky TV a few years ago , I realised that the £35/month ( standard TV only, no HD, no sport no movies ) was poor value for what I watched (broadband and phone from a different provider ) and I can honestly say I don’t miss it, TBH, they recon 90% of ‘TV’ is watched on ‘free’ TV1

Cancel Virgin and wait for them to offer you a deal, aim for about £30 a month for 100BB and basic TV, Films, Sport, history channels will add to that.0

I agree with the above. Somewhere in the region of £30 to £35 a month for basic TV, 100 broadband and Talk Weekend phone should be do-able for an existing customer with Virgin if you tough it out. Just might involve a bit of chew getting there.0
