Cheap Eon powershop top shopper fix coming to an end

Options
Hi - are there any other powershop top shopper (or similar) users coming to the end of their fixed tariff?

From what I can see I'm about to hit a double whammy of price rises
Fix deal of
Elec: 13.41p (18.33p standing charge)
Gas: 2.23p (21.11p standing charge)
This finishes on 24th Jan

So on 24th Jan I'm going on to Eon's NextFlex at 164% of what I pay now taking me to the current market price cap (I use 4 times price cap)

When the April price hike goes in (at say 50%) increase - my total cost will be 246% of what I pay today.

In summary my annual bill is going up by just over £3000.

I know I've been lucky with such a low tariff for so long - but I'm not sure what to do next.

What are my best options -

damage limitation - take out the Scottish power fix for 24 months - thus avoiding any more price increases? this fixes it at 241% of what I pay now
ignore it all - stay on the eon nextFlex and hope it doesn't go up at 164% more until April and then who knows what!
power down the house while I'm out at work (leaving the wife and 6 kids in darkness?)

Any tips?

Scottish power have 2 tarrifs that I'm looking at

Fixed Price January 2024 YM1 Online
    Elec 30.41p (23.5p standing)
    Gas 8.35p (26.11p standing)

    Fixed Price January 2024 YE2
    Elec 30.41p (17.735p standing)
    Gas 8.35p (26.11p standing)
However this one comes with Boiler cover at £3.50 per month so the saving you make on the electricity standing charge is eaten up by the boiler cover

Both fixed prices have a £60 fee for cancelling early (£30 per fuel type)

  • E.ON Next have launched a new tariff today for existing customers - Next Online v9. The prices are fixed for 12 months and although the standing charges are high the unit prices aren't too bad, so worth considering unless you're a low user. In my region (East Midlands) the electricity SC is 38.953p and the unit rate 25.169. Gas SC is 49.294p and unit price 5.204p.

That doesn’t look too bad I manage my elderly dads account and he’s a high gas user being elderly and feeling the cold, might be worth it for him.

This one is really a play for next winter, and could be a good deal for those who are high gas users but low electricity if you stick with it for 12 months.
Moving now would put up prices for the remainder of this winter though, so it is not all good.

I just switched him to this and chose the latest start date possible so he’s switching to it on the 22/3
