Rejecting Car before repairs carried out.

I bought a car from Stoneacres Wrexham.  After 2 days the car had a major failure (the engine dumped its whole engine full of oil) this was not sump damage or a gasket problem.  I told the dealer not to repair the vehicle without speaking to me first as I would reject the vehicle if it was not a simple repair.  The garage stripped the engine and ordered the part.  I spoke to the manager and told him he not been authorised, he said "well somebody told us to do it" the parts been ordered it will get repaired and you'll get it back!!  He was aggressive. They have the car and would not give me the key back to stop them from progressing. I told that I would go to trading standards and he "the manager stated fill your boots and that he had a special relationship with Trading standards.
I am aware that I have a 30 day return right but this company are being aggressive uncooperative and lying.
I would be grateful for thoughts, opinions and professional advice to this issue.

I doesn’t matter if they fix the car you can still reject it. It needs fixing either so you can have it back, or to sell to someone else if you reject it. Forget all the faff about the repair, just reject it and buy something else.
  • Firstly - No vehicle should have a fault like that so early in ownership.
Secondly - What did you buy, at what price point and from what type of dealer
Thirdly - How did you pay as linked finance means the finance company have an interest

Your expectations are tempered by what you’ve bought and at what price.

Hopefully simply talking will get the result you’re after but if not ultimately it’s an LBA and small claims.

Just drop a letter off to them saying you reject it and give 7 days for a refund. Then LBA.
  • Haven’t you got to give the seller one opportunity of fixing the problem?

You're under no obligation to in the first 30 days.  Still subject to reasonable expectations against age value and condition on day of sale.
