Extending airport parking

My family are currently stuck abroad after visiting family as my daughter is currently in hospital with Covid and I am also in quarantine after testing positive. We have missed our flights back and I'm worried about how much my car is going to be charged for overstaying at the airport as it will be at least 10 days until we can fly back. I've contacted Skypark who I made the booking with and they said they are unable to amend the booking as my car is already there and they are just a booking agent. It looks as though I will have to pay the airport car park's daily overstay charge. I would hope to claim it back on travel insurance but that is not guaranteed. Does anyone know if there is any other way around it?

Get someone with a spare key to go and move the car somewhere else?
Which airport? Which car park?0 -
It's at Birmingham car park 2. It was a free upgrade as car park 5 is shut so another thing is they could charge £18 extra per day instead of £10.
I don't think it will be an option to get someone else to move it unfortunately but good idea.0 -
Birmingham Airport website has the following notice on its car parking pages:NCP's contact centre is experiencing unprecedented volumes of customer calls and emails
and are therefore having to prioritise helping customers who were due to travel in the next 72 hours.
Please bear with them as they're working as fast as they can and will respond to all calls and emails as quickly as possible.
Please email NCP at bookingenquiries@ncp.co.uk with your booking reference number
and contact details and they'll respond to you as soon as possible. As it will take longer than normal to process your request,
please bear with them. They're working through every email and enquiry as quickly as they can.0 -

Sorry to hear - I can't suggest anything, the few times my flights were delayed and I had an excess on my parking (heathrow) they always hit me full wack.
With the cost of missed flights & (presumably) additional accomodation costs - I would have thought the carpark would be a small piece, unless you have insurance, in which case they should cover the parking too.

I had a recent experience at Glasgow airport when I chose to extend my holiday
I was able to make a new booking for the extended period (difficult if you do not know how long that will be) and on exit had to press the assistance button to give both reference numbers. (ended up paying £60 instead of £280 if just overstay charge)
In my case insurance would not have been applicable as was personal choice but may help with yours. wishing you all a good recovery0 -

In other words don't assume you will be allowed but its an interesting question in my view. What would (ultimately) a judge make of a back to back booking that the parking company disputed ? If they didn't allow it in their terms and conditions then there is an argument that the terms would be contradictory as two seperate bookings are allowed.0
