Fencing quote in Bristol

Hi
I have a tiny garden of a mid-terrace house (8m x 5.5m) and I am looking to replace the fencing (6ft overlap panels, concrete post and concrete gravel boards) on one side (8m) and the back (5.5M) with basic back gate as well.  I have been quoted £3218 including VAT including waste removal.  Is this reasonable?  Seems a bit steep.
TIA

Does seem expensive it’s nearly £240 a metre including the gate.
Is there anything about the job to justify additional cost (access, ground state etc).

You could always get a rough material price from online sources and guesstimate the labour, overhead and profit side of the job with the caveat - Trades do have expenses and MUST make money beyond simply Labour to keep operating which is not unreasonable.

That said - finding any contractor right now is difficult and prices are at premium rates so only you can decide if it’s worth it overall having done your due diligence.

That does seem expensive, Try to obtain at least three quotes for same specification consider landscape gardeners as well as decicated fencing companies.
  • you are looking at about 7panels & 8posts plus 7 gravel boards so rough price for materials is £650 to £750 & £400 to £500 a day to errect the fence which should be done in a 2 days easily. A skip will cost £200ish So yes is a bit over the top. I work as a gardener & a lot of landscapers are busy so they just make up a silly price just to try thier luck.
  • Thanks.  It will be nothing fancy and there are no access problems either.
  • I'm near Bristol and was quoted £1100 materials for around 20m of fencing, 4ft high panels  boards and posts.
Labour was going to add either £1k or £2k to the bill depending on the level of cut back we wanted - it is a lot of work that needs doing.

We've decided to not be lazy and do much of the "labour" ourselves. Hopefully by the time we've done that timber prices will have fallen a bit
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...
  • Thanks.  I got some more quotes and for 13m of fencing and gate, the best quote is around £1300 including labour, which seems reasonable.
