Does anybody know Comcat Energy?
My parents are private, regulated tenants. They have no central heating. They've received a letter from a company called Comcat Energy who offer a government led scheme to install free boilers/insulation/whole central heating systems. They have told my parents that they are probably eligible for a gas central heating system free of charge, providing the landlord is in agreement. They have said that the scheme stops in March of this year, so my parents need to act quickly (Comcat claim that they can arrange for work to start within the next 2 weeks if the landlord approves).
It all seems too good to be true, so I would just like to know if anybody else has had experience of Comcat, and if it is a genuine, free of charge, scheme.
Thanks.

How can I verify that Comcat Energy are a genuine organisation? They have a genuine looking website with lots of accreditations at the bottom of the home page, but I can't find anything else about them. I really want a guarantee that they are genuine.0

Somewhere there's a Governement website where you can chek on companies that are registered to use these schemes, but I'm not having any luck finding it at the moment - sorry.

- They quote only a partial postcode.
- They use a phone number with a Halifax area code, but it's a virtual number which could be anywhere.
- A search at Companies House brings up several pages of people and companies listed at their contact address.
- ComCat Group Limited is listed as having been dormant until fairly recently.
- There is one Director who is an Electrical Refridgeration Engineer (sic).

The address given by this company is actually the address of a firm of chartered accountants called Peel Walker1

Perhaps he'll over you 20% off at the licenced restaurant business he became a director of last month?
