Problem Getting Igloo Credit Balance Refunded By E-On Next

I had both gas and electricity provided by Igloo Energy. On 3rd October 2021 they went into administration, and I got an email on 5th October 2021 confirming that E-On Next were my new supplier from 3rd October onwards. I had already begun the process of switching to Utility Warehouse, and that switch was completed on 21st October 2021.

I have received my final bill from Igloo, showing a credit balance of 381.87, which they say has been transferred to E-On Next. E-On Next say that it hasn't, and that they have no details of my account. The two companies refuse to speak to one another to resolve this. I'd be very grateful for suggestions about how to resolve this impasse. I'm in Scotland if legal jurisdiction is a factor.

Many thanks

  • If Igloo have confirmed the amount it then the amount does not go direct to E-On, it needs to be confirmed 1st.

You'll be back of the que as E-On's priority will be with their current customers. I'd wait a couple of month before worrying too much.
  • I went to EON from Igloo but the credit is shown in my EON account so no issues never got a letter from Igloo but credit shown on account with EON, check your EON account to see if it is there.  Also to keep price low tell them you live in a smaller house and your monthly bill will be less.

There is no money to pass on to E.oN Next. For this to happen, the failed supplier would have to hold all consumer payments in a legally-protected fund (escrow). The money to reimburse you will paid by the SoLR; reclaimed from Ofgem and, ultimately, fall as a cost to all energy consumers in the form of higher energy bills.

😂 so you will then be hit with a large catch up bill.

to the op it takes time took a year with me and tonik, but keep on at eon and forward them a copy of your final bill.
  • I left Igloo on 01/10/2021, a final bill upto 1 Oct was emailed to me around 18/10/2021 by igloo and the remaining credit (cheque) was sent by EON at the back end of November 2021.
  • Still waiting for my Igloo refund.
Spent several hours on Twitter with e.on this weekend and still no joy.

I had the same problem with Together Energy, emails, calls with no results.  Went to my bank local branch and as I paid by direct debit, The bank refunded the full credit amount.  Hope my experience will help.
