Closed account not really closed by Sainsbury Bank….

Moving bank from YBS to Nationwide via a manual switch done by NBS and received a letter from Sainsbury's accepting my new account details for a card closed 15 months ago,so you might be onto something

what would I want to happen to funds attempting to be put into a non existent account? I would want the payment to be refused, perhaps with a message along the lines of “this account is closed…”

And how would that work? You clearly have no idea how the BACS system operates. The sort code and account number you sent the money too isnt solely the one assigned to you, you know.

You/your wife made the error. Take some responsibility yourself.

I'm not aware of any credit provider who would do this, as CPAs still need to be honoured.

Which lenders are you referring to when you say 'most'?
